Holiday Destinations

Leluvia (simple tropical island paradise, straight out of the movies)

I have now visited this AYAD home away from home away from home twice. It is the perfect destination to escape the busy city, tourist traps or nothing happening Ba for a relaxing, time pausing weekend.

A quick 4hr journey down the Kings Road from Ba will land you at Waladice landing, where you board the prearranged boat for the 40min zip out to the island. The boat trip is incredibly scenic. With the first section weaving along mangrove bordered rivers, then you shoot out into the open ocean, where local families are bobbing around fishing in their dugouts, skim over the shallow reef and head towards the speck that is Leluvia.

17 hectares of white sand, coconut palms and sheltered bures encircled by a fishy coral reef. (saw squid mating last time, that was an interesting spectacle, I would be pretty impressed with a man if he a. fended off other, much smaller men, and b. changed colours!). Always a few clown fish, plenty of stripy sea snakes and some silly trigger fish to chase.

And the next few thousand words:

Lovo dinner

Things to do: read, sun bathe, take a dip, go for a real swim, play volley, snorkel, scuba (thanks to neighbouring island Caqalai), lap the island, take photos, hold hermit crab races, read, take more photos, gossip, eat, bonfire, read and swim.

Down falls: limited activities, not the most amazing reef, too many crown of thorns, prices went up last week, food can be... interesting.
